News Update.

Hi again, this is our 3rd post on this blog just updating what we are doing with our company WannaMap. In our last post we mentioned about our logo. Well, we have made a nice, neat and a very professional logo. Here it is!:

We have been waiting for a couple of meetings with a company in Leicester but for a few reasons, both meetings had to be cancelled. Now we are trying to get in contact with other iPhone/iPod Touch application developers to see if they could point us in the right direction.
I was thinking instead of having just a written blog, maybe try and put together a video blog "vlog"! This then, will get across our points ourselves instead of just writing. If our blog is read then maybe!

Designing WannaMap?

Today was a day where not a lot happened. Our plan for today was to try to design a logo! It can be so simple but it can be to simple to be not recognised. Where do you draw the line. We looked at other famous companies and they haven't got amazing colourful graphic designs. Obviously Apple have the most recognised logo in the world. It's an Apple! It's the most simplistic idea ever. We then had to conclude the biggest companies have the boldest graphic designs. It looks like it could be a bold, modern logo that we would have to try and build up.
Next up as well I was thinking of business cards. The internet has so many designs, as we mentioned before what do you go for? Big, bright and attractive cards, or simple and plain cards which get the point across.
We will be trying to get this done in the next week, and we will post information about it as well.

Two other things we were thinking about:
How do websites/youtube videos get millions of views? Every just starts knowing about it without personally getting told! We would love to know, as we bet no one looks on this except me who writes it, so if you know comment this!

Welcome.

Hi, this will be the blog for the up and coming company WannaMap.
This will be updated with news and feeds relevant to the company, including how mettings went and what the next steps will be. We also have got twitter up and running click to follow us here. Like this we will put regular "tweets" on about things that are occuring. WannaMap is a company that is going to be bringing out a product that could change indoor navigation for life.

We are four young men striving for success. We recently won 2 business enterprising competitions which included us winning £1100. This money will be helping us lay down the foundations of the company.

Our first competiton was at school which was held by James Pegg and Ian Harrison. Participants who attended the event at John Cleveland College (the students at the school) had to come up with a product or service which we could sell to the public, then present the idea to 3 "dragons" in the style of dragons den! In the middle of the day we had come up with our plan thinking it was an average idea. James Pegg and Ian Harrison kept on persisting with us asking us questions which made us develop the idea ourselves. By the end of the day we presented the idea to the three dragons which  were involeved with the Leicester Shire Economic Partnership, Skills For Enterprise and Business Link. The three dragons decided to make us the winners, we were all shocked as we did not think that would win. This day was a pleasing and gave us a lot of experience. The prize was £100 to develop the idea as we were forwarded to the "Leicester's Got Enterprising Business Talent" competition to win the grand prize of £1000.

The Leicester's Got Enterprising Business Talent competition was held at the Belmont Hotel in Leicester. We were overwhelmed by the ages of our competitors and it was a real eye opener of how we need to put all our effort to get the best out of our idea. We had to go record a little video so we could present it to the judges to go along with a business plan, describing how and what we will be doing to the company to make it become and succesful and why we were the right company to win the competition. Our competitors had really good products and services which all deserved to win. It was a huge shock again when we heard our business called out that we won the competition. Our parents were at the competition as well so it was special for them to see their grown up son's being succesful! Overall it was a great night, we were also amazed by the attention we received by people who attended the final. Every one was shaking our hands saying congratulations while photos being taken! It is wierd thinking back at that moment because it happened in one fast movement. It is one of them moments as well where you can talk about it when your older as well! It is amazing how a few months ago we just come up with a ordinary idea then next we had won £1000!

We had a few releases on the internet about the event, and a press release which was in the local paper! This was very humbling as we had been recognised for being succesful.

Underneath will be links to websites that wrote about the enterprising final:
